Who the #$&% is Jackson Pollock?

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a book that seemed like an interesting read. An old paperback copywritten in 1974. I started to read what the book was about, 'this adventurous young woman, whose vain persona is representative of her times, and whose life is changed forever from the minute she meets this overwhelming genius, strong weak man, doomed lover. A love story searing, tragic and true'...it's called 'Love Affair', by Ruth Kligman. I read it, it is a good read, a love story about an artist who drank alot, had mood swings, especially very sad ones and this naive young woman who wanted to be an artist herself, experienced her first love with this older man. They seemed to have a strong loving bond, yet an unhealthy one.

I walked by a theatre yesterday and noticed his work, the title of the film is called 'Who the #$&% is Jackson Pollock?' I'm going to see it this week. It's about a 73 year old former truck driver who bought one of his painting's for $5, and how it would pit her against the highest, mightiest people in the art world and perhaps change forever the way art is authenticated.

There is also a movie that was filmed about 7 years ago, a portrait of his life and art that I'll pick up at the library, it stars Ed Harris and Jennifer Connelly.

Jackson Pollock's life and work has sparked an interest. His art is very moving, with a lot of emotion, thoughts, and is known as abstract expressionism.

"On the floor I am more at ease, I feel nearer, more a part of the painting, since this way I can walk around in it, work from the four sides and be literally 'in' the painting." - Jackson Pollock, 1947.
